Scottish comedian and actor, Billy Connolly is to become the latest superstar voice installed on TomTom satellite navigation systems to help motorists avoid UK vehicle insurance claims. Connolly’s voice will be available to use for directions to avoid drivers getting confused or lost.
Connolly is one of a number of new superstars to put their name to the TomTom satellite navigation systems, with the likes of John Cleese, Eddie Izzard and Homer Simpson also downloadable as an optional extra.
Such witty one-liners from Connolly include: "Turn around when possible. It is advisable to turn your entire car around. Do not just turn around inside the car."
Drivers that do take an unfortunate wrong turning will be met by comments such as: "Make a U-turn. None of this would have been necessary had you been listening a minute ago."
TomTom sat navs are now an incredibly common consumer item, with over 40 million customers since its global release. Satellite navigation systems mean that drivers are less likely to get lost and cause driving accidents due to distractions and disorientation. The negative is that motorists are becoming more reliant on such devices instead of planning their journeys beforehand.
