UK car insurance customers are being told to compare insurers for loopholes in valid claims when cars are "frost-jacked".
"Frost-jacking" is a growing concern, with people leaving their cars unattended to warm up with the engine running and leaving them open for burglary.
According to the Daily Mail, on Tuesday in Greater Manchester there were three incidents of this kind alone.
However, motorists should beware that these situations usually result in your UK car insurance policy being invalidated, as insurers could claim the owners left their cars unattended.
Adam Pipe from Essex Police, suggests: "It is illegal to drive with obscured vision, so always ensure all windows are fully cleared of snow, frost and condensation before setting off on a journey."
Motorists should also ensure in the wintry weather that their mobile phone is fully charged, car lights are in full working order and clean, snow from the top of the car is cleared to avoid obstructions to your view and leave plenty of time for all journeys.
