The nation’s motorists will be pleased to hear that UK motor insurance providers are currently working hard behind the scenes in a bid to reduce the impact of fraudulent UK car insurance claims that are having a negative effect on premiums for honest drivers with a clean licence.
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive for the British Insurance Brokers Association, said: "We don’t want innocent people to foot the bill and do all we can to help with that matter."
This week we revealed that the Association of British Insurers (ABI) disclosed figures showing that fraudulent motor insurance claims are costing the industry £410 million per year.
Nick Starling, the ABI’s director of general insurance and health, said: "Reducing fraud remains an ongoing battle for insurance providers."
Mr Trudgill revealed that the current system for providing car insurance quotations is conducted on a risk-based strategy, therefore it is difficult to prevent innocent people falling victim to the influence of statistics such as the ABI figures.
However, Mr Trudgill concluded: "Insurance is fair to people and is very, very specific to the individual."
