Co-Car Insurance - Honest Drivers Affected by 'Cheats'
01/09/2010
A Co-Op car insurance representative has levelled the problems honest drivers face with rising UK car insurance costs squarely at the feet of 'cheats' who defraud innocent drivers.
The insurers' chief operating officer, Tim Franklin believes that with so many drivers making dishonest claims and submitting false information on their car insurance applications, premiums are on the rise for everyday drivers as a result.
Mr Franklin has insisted that motorists who get behind the wheel of their car knowing that false information about them or their vehicle invalidates their insurance policy should pay the consequences.
According to Mr Franklin, those who report fraudulent drivers with invalid UK car insurance are akin to those who shop those who try to defraud the benefits system, and he has urged people to continue to make that commitment.
Mr Franklin added: "As a responsible insurer we strive to educate drivers about the importance of responsible driving and the effect of deliberately forgoing insurance."
