UK Car Insurance - Olympics Could Affect Car Insurance Claims
06/08/2010
UK car insurance customers are likely to see disruption from the planning of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has said that the major traffic flows within central London will need to be configured in July 2012.
There are plans afoot to involve the Olympic and Paralympic route networks that are designed to enable both competitors, media and Olympic officials to get to the games on time.
As a result, a number of major roads are likely to have their offside lanes closed to all but Olympic traffic, meaning right turns will not be possible on them between BST 6am and BST 12am.
John Armitt, chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority, said: "Where Games Lanes are required there will inevitably be some temporary disruption to everyday life, but we must give athletes the best chance to train and compete effectively."
London’s motorists are being provided with an information document titled On Time, designed to give drivers more information about the changes that will be made.
Avoiding confusion of London’s roads is a sure-fire way of steering clear of any potential collisions or accidents that will require car insurance claims and eventually, increased UK car insurance premiums.
